Being a witness to clients’ courage, strengths, vulnerabilities, and growth. This inspires me the most.
Starting with the death of my father when I was 9 years old, I have been a therapy client for much of my life. Decades later, disillusionment with my corporate job urged me to go back to school. At first I studied Jung through a creative lens (or creativity through a Jungian lens). Other light-bulb moments happened, including a dream about Liza Minnelli that reinvigorated my interest in queer Goddess figures. I felt called to be a guide to others, especially those in my own 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I wanted to help people at various turning points and transitions in their lives. In fact, on my left shoulder I got a tattoo of the word “crossroads” in Ancient Greek.
Outside of work I write, play with my Springer Spaniel Gino, see friends, go to theater, listen to music, enjoy movies, hit the beach, listen to audiobooks, take naps, and sponsor folks in 12-step recovery. Now and then I also perform spoken-word pieces at a monthly queer cabaret.
